The Ladybug

Human life is like a constant balancing act. Fortuna, the Roman goddess of chance, is spinning the wheel, while the mortal tries desperately to stay on top of it. In the Classical period, Fortuna was depicted as a winged woman on a ball, with the horn of plenty (cornucopia) in her hands. We have borrowed this Classical motif and created a slightly modified version of it, not without irony. Here, Fortuna appears as a ladybug, which is a symbol of good fortune in numerous cultures (both Western and Eastern ones). The ball has been transformed into a golf ball; the horn of plenty has "spilled" green grass onto the golf field, while the word "Fortuna" on the ball still includes a wheel.
